Online Courses

The college began offering online courses in the summer of 2005. Courses are designed to maximize opportunities for students to collaborate and interact with the professor and other students. Our online courses offer the latest in course technology including streaming video and threaded discussions. Good computer skills and access to a PC that meets certain hardware and software requirements is required for enrollment.

Courses currently offered are categorized as general education, education, or Bible courses. The courses range in format from 25-75 hybrid to 100% online. The hybrid course is designed for periodic meetings with the instructor of the course for additional instruction, for face-to-face discussion, or for testing purposes. Hybrid courses are open to all students. On-campus students may take 100% online courses only during the summer semesters.

History of our Program

To meet the educational needs of non-traditional students, Arlington Baptist College decided to design a degree completion program in January, 2006. This program, which results in a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible-General Studies, is perfect for individuals who have some college education, but did not complete a degree. Course delivery is 100% Internet so that students can continue to fulfill work and family responsibilities. All courses are offered in accelerated 8 week semesters, or “learning blocks.”

Christian Service

As a college, we are strongly committed to the ministry of the local church and the importance of each individual’s participation in some form of regular Christian service. To encourage participation and spiritual growth, all students enrolled at Arlington Baptist College are expected to complete the following Christian service unit for each semester of full-time enrollment or after the successful completion of every 12 hours of coursework. This requirement will run concurrently with enrollment in the classes whose completion will cause the students’ accumulated hours to exceed 12, 24, 36, etc. No degree will be issued to a student who has not completed the required number of Christian Service Units.

A Christian Service Unit includes:

  1. a stated commitment to active membership and involvement in a local church.
  2. a report summarizing 8 hours of practicing skills related to field of study.
  3. a completed self-evaluation of skills developed during enrollment at Arlington Baptist College.
  4. a completed pastoral evaluation of the student

All policies, privileges, and report forms described in the current Christian Service Manual will be applicable to any student enrolled in Distance Education (Online Program).

Admission Requirements

Students enrolling for online courses must meet the regular admission requirements. The basic physical, however, is not required for students taking online courses only. The forms necessary for admission can be obtained through the Registrar’s Office or can be downloaded from this website.

  1. The applicant must be a born-again Christian and an active church member.
  2. The applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

Registration

One may register for an online course during the regular registration time at the beginning of each semester (see semester calendars), or one may download a registration form from the college website. The completed form should then be mailed to the Registrar’s Office. If the student has all financial paperwork in order, he/she will send only the $250.00 registration fee with the form. If one has not processed his/her paperwork (federal grants and/or loans), the total cost of the course(s) must accompany the registration form or be paid at the time of registration.

If the student is taking one or more courses during a term (two blocks), he/she should register for all courses at the beginning of the term. Each student will be notified as to the username and password necessary for accessing a course. At that time, the student will go to the college website and follow the instructions under the online course link
